With a Beautiful Voice and a Love for Soul Music, Eli Reed Showcases a True Musical Talent
From humble musical beginnings growing up outside of Boston, Eli “Paperboy” Reed moved to Clarksdale, MS when he was 18, cut his teeth playing and singing in juke joints all over the Delta and spent a year as minister of music with Southside church of Soul legend Mitty Collier. With the release of “99 Cent Dreams”, he begins his second decade completely and utterly in love with soul music.
Cut at the legendary Sam Phillips Recording, and produced by Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price), “99 Cent Dreams” is an exuberant and uplifting collection, a celebration of life and love delivered by an ecstatic messenger who’s still in profound awe of the power of both. Reed’s arrangements are lean and muscular, filtering vintage R&B, soul, and gospel through the heart of a modern songwriter.
His stunning voice remains front and center, of course, but his performances here have grown in their assurance and matured in their delivery, a sign perhaps of the newfound perspective he’s gained with fatherhood. And now, you can experience the beauty of his music at Minglewood Hall this Friday!
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Atrium of Minglewood Plaza or https://www.ticketfly.com. This event is suitable for ages 18 and over. We hope that you set some time aside and enjoy Eli “Paperboy” Reed’s music with your friends!
