Trash – But Make It Fashion! Check Out the Trashion Show at the Pink Palace Museum
The Pink Palace Family of Museums opens the door to a world of exploration, discovery, and fun for all. This weekend, the Pink Palace team invites you to view the unique exhibit, Trashion Show. Check it out this Saturday at Pink Palace Museum!
Trashion Show tells the story of the Memphis City Beautiful Curb Couture Trashion Show – an annual show of green couture showcasing original designs by local artists, designers, retailers, and Memphis’s leading fashion figures.
Trashion blends trash and fashion featuring outfits made from recycled and/or repurposed materials, such as glass, trash bags, aluminum cans, bike tires, plastic bottles, and the like. The environmentally chic event educates the community about recycling and waste reduction in a unique way.
The Pink Palace Museum is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Southeast. Explore the cultural and natural history of the Mid-South through exciting exhibits, dioramas, and audio-visuals. Trace Memphis' development from the time of Spanish explorers through the Civil War and the yellow fever epidemics. Learn from the award-winning medical exhibit how health care grew to be Memphis' largest industry.
Headquarters for the Pink Palace Family of Museums, the Pink Palace derives its name from the Mansion's ornate pink Georgian marble facade. The historic address was originally designed to be the dream home of wealthy entrepreneur Clarence Saunders before Saunders lost his fortune just a year after announcing the home’s construction. But Saunders’ loss is the world’s gain. The Pink Palace Museum has become an awe-inspiring world of discovery, attracting visitors from around the globe.
Explore a unique take on fashion at Trashion Show this Saturday at Pink Palace Museum! Museum admission starts at $14. For more information, please visit www.memphismuseums.org.
